About The Position

The Return-to-Work Coordinator supports injured employees, City agencies, and agency leadership through early outreach, collaborative communication, and proactive coordination of modified duty opportunities. The role documents claim activity in Riskonnect, the City’s Risk Management Information System (RMIS) and helps employees progress toward full duty status by staying connected with supervisors, adjusters, nurse case managers, medical providers, and agency leaders. A key part of this position involves identifying modified duty placements, starting within the employee’s home agency and, when needed, exploring opportunities across other City departments. This includes reviewing the employee’s transferable skills, identifying the appropriate agency personnel and independently conducting outreach to find suitable temporary assignments when a department cannot accommodate restrictions. The RTW Coordinator also supports the claims team by contributing to Citywide goals that include reducing lost time, improving case progression and strengthening the accuracy of return-to-work reporting and related performance metrics.
