About The Position

The Return to Work (RTW) Coordinator reports to the Supervisor of RTWC Team and generally works independently on routine cases. As the coordinator's expertise and medical knowledge increase, supervision may be relaxed on more complicated issues. The coordinator participates in the daily prospective management of workplace injuries and works with team members, nurse case managers when assigned, physicians, and employers to facilitate quality, cost-effective care for injured workers. The schedule is Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM.

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent.
Analytical skills and judgment evidenced by at least one year of experience or education in a medical setting or field.
Understanding of medical terminology, medical office procedures, and workers’ compensation regulations.
Proficiency in data entry and word processing, and skill in using general office equipment.
Ability to communicate effectively, both in writing and orally, with people at various levels.

Nice To Haves

Medical experience is preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

Review injury and medical reports and, after verifying information, formulate a plan to expedite return to work at full duty.
Determine the type of injury and the worker's work status.
Manage individual injuries and, when appropriate, transfer files to an RN Case Manager for medical case management.
Contact appropriate offices to verify information and promote and educate about customers' transitional duty programs.
Maintain accurate, timely, and professional record entries.
Establish and facilitate cooperative relationships with team members, client companies, providers, and adjusters.
Update necessary management data screens to support accurate customer reporting.
