About The Position

MainePERS is seeking a detail-driven, service-minded Retirement Services Specialist to support accurate, timely benefit processing while helping guide the day-to-day work of the unit.

Requirements

Strong knowledge of retirement/benefit processing
Action Oriented and Resilient approach to managing priorities
Effective communication and collaboration skills
Sound, timely decision quality and problem resolution
Ability to drive engagement while ensuring accuracy and accountability
Bachelor’s degree plus 2 years of responsible administrative experience.
OR- 8 years of progressively responsible administrative experience which includes: 2 years of work experience as a Pension Associate II or higher in the Retirement Services Unit of the Member Services Division of MainePERS.
OR- Any equivalent combination of relevant education and experience
Proficient in MS Office suite
Must be proficient in Excel at the Beginner level

Nice To Haves

Experience which demonstrates interviewing, interpersonal, data gathering, and analytical skills necessary to form the basis for making complex eligibility determinations, claims resolutions and customer service requests; experience making group presentations.

Responsibilities

Support the processing and accuracy of benefit-related work
Provide general oversight of daily workflow; direct and assign work to pension associates and clerks
Serve as a collaborative subject matter expert and resource to staff
Run and analyze reports and queries to ensure payroll and payment deadlines are met with accuracy
Authorize retirement payments and approve adjustments
Research and respond to complex member and management inquiries
Partner with Business Unit and Retirement Services leadership to keep work moving efficiently
Contribute to building and maintaining a positive, engaged team culture
