About The Position

Under the general supervision of the Department Manager and the immediate Supervisor, the Retirement Representative will perform activities related to processing of retirement benefits.

Requirements

  • Working knowledge of basic office equipment
  • Demonstrated ability to keep calm and positive within all communications
  • Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with internal staff and external clients
  • Proven ability to accurately and timely review retirement information and documentation.
  • Utilize computer and phone systems to be able to effectively perform the essential functions of the position
  • 3 years of office work with 1 year working within Pension Administration Or successfully completed internal Retirement Representative Trainee designation and training

Nice To Haves

  • Associates degree in related field
  • 4 years of experience processing Pensions and plan of benefits

Responsibilities

  • Demonstrate knowledge of the Plan of benefits assigned to them and work toward developing an understanding of Plans on other work stations within the Department to assist if necessary
  • Maintains and updates all records necessary to process retirement benefits
  • Receives, computes, researches and evaluates requests for vesting, retirement, death and/or vacation benefits
  • Personal interviewing of Plans participants, beneficiaries or other representatives by telephone, email, and in person
  • Coordinates with other departments, Union Representatives, Trustees and other persons as required
  • Codes various data for computer processing
  • Performs other duties as assigned while able to multi-task
