About The Position

The Retirement Product Marketing Director is responsible for owning and delivering the Empower value proposition and brand story to B2B audiences through the development and implementation of a cohesive system of promotional and selling/marketing materials. Critical external audiences include retirement plan sponsors and retirement consultants/advisors, with a focus on Empower’s Government and Taft-Hartley market segments. This individual is expected to have a comprehensive understanding of retirement services offerings, the retirement industry with a specific focus in the Government space, a sophisticated marketing background, and client service and/or sales expertise. This position reports directly to the Vice President of Retirement Product Marketing. The success measure of this role is tightly aligned to addressing the sales and client management objectives of the Government and Taft-Hartley business segments. The role will partner with other marketing professionals and be supported by our internal creative agency.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent
  • FINRA fingerprinting required.
  • 7-10 years of Marketing or product management, preferably in Retirement services or related industries
  • Understanding of the competitive retirement marketplace, and nuances of the Government and Taft-Hartley industries
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Attention to visual and design elements
  • Strong research and analytical skills
  • Excellent project management skills
  • Ability to operate effectively in a matrixed environment
  • Innovative and creative mind
  • Familiarity with the latest marketing trends and technologies

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the primary Marketing contact for Product Development, Sales and Service teams for all Government and Taft-Hartley specific initiatives and for additional cross-segment initiatives.
  • Partner closely for opportunities to innovate and evolve the product offer.
  • Develop sophisticated, cost-effective multi-media selling systems, including a focus on adopting sponsors and train sales teams on their effective use.
  • Create and own compelling marketing programs with a focus on digital execution.
  • Establish a market-leading narrative and value proposition for the Government segment, including connection to thought leadership content.
  • Translate key initiatives to support distribution.
  • Seek and interpret data analytics and develop case studies to validate results and support sales.
  • Identify key provider selection priorities for plan sponsors, advisors and consultants, based on market segment.
  • Measure effectiveness across a variety of dimensions to continuously refine the selling system
  • Guide promotion strategy, especially for priority product launches and campaigns
  • Gather marketplace feedback and insights; respond efficiently to requests or ideas that can drive results.
  • Keep current on legislative and regulatory developments that may impact or create distribution opportunities.
  • Evaluate and manage return on marketing investment.
  • Potential participation in intermediary site visits or due diligence meetings; limited travel required.
