Our firm is seeking a Retirement Plan Services Specialist to join our Grand Rapids, MI office. The Retirement Plan Services Specialist will support a variety of operational, implementation, document and administrative functions within our Retirement Plan Services department. This is not a traditional plan administrator role. Instead, this position will work across multiple areas of the department, providing support to plan administrators, implementation staff, department leadership, and our clients.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred
  • Prior experience in retirement plan administration, recordkeeping, implementation, plan documents, or a related retirement plan role
  • A general understanding of 401(k), profit sharing, and other qualified retirement plans
  • Strong Microsoft Excel skills, including the ability to organize, reconcile, and analyze data
  • Comfortable learning and working within multiple software platforms and technology systems
  • Experience with FT William retirement plan software is preferred
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • The ability to manage multiple projects and shift priorities
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • The ability to work independently while also collaborating with a broader team

Responsibilities

  • Preparing and processing plan documents, amendments, resolutions, and related participant communications
  • Assisting with new plan installations, plan conversions, and TPA transitions
  • Preparing retirement plan proposals and supporting plan design projects
  • Drafting and coordinating engagement letters and related service documentation
  • Processing payroll contribution files and assisting with contribution-related reconciliations
  • Supporting retirement plan administrators with annual administration and other client needs
  • Assisting with participant distributions, loans, and other transaction-related requests
  • Maintaining and updating client files, internal systems, databases, and workflow records
  • Reconciling recordkeeper payments, revenue reports, and other departmental financial information
  • Coordinating with recordkeepers, financial advisors, payroll providers, clients, and internal team members
  • Identifying opportunities to improve processes, strengthen internal controls, and use technology more effectively
  • Assisting with special projects and other departmental priorities as needed
