About The Position

The Retirement Benefits Manager serves as an assistant to the Administrative Program Director 4. They oversee operational aspects of the Defined Benefits (DB) Plan requirements for the Employer Services Department and acts as the lead program manager for the Membership Eligibility/Salary Reporting & Employer Audit, Employer Training, and Special Projects operational areas by serving over 200 TRSL reporting agencies.

Requirements

  • Eight years of experience in employee benefits; OR Six years of full-time experience in any field plus five years of experience in employee benefits; OR A bachelor's degree plus five years of experience in employee benefits; OR A Certified Retirement Counselor (CRC) or Certified Employee Benefit Specialist (CEBS) designation plus four years of experience in employee benefits.
  • Every 30 semester hours earned from an accredited college or university will be credited as one year of experience towards the six years of full-time work experience in any field.
  • The maximum substitution allowed is 120 semester hours which substitutes for a maximum of four years of experience in any field.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for direct supervision and workflow coordination in implementing procedures efficiently.
  • Consults with system administrators, staff attorneys, actuary, internal and professional auditors.
  • Reviews legislation, Board resolutions, court judgements, attorney general opinions and administrative decisions for interpretations and compliance.
  • Review correspondence and computations for accuracy and compliance with the provisions of the system.
