About The Position

This internship provides an opportunity to join the Retirement consulting team, offering expertise in retirement consulting to support global organizations in optimizing their employee retirement programs. Whether clients have defined benefit pensions or defined contribution plans, the team assists in designing, funding, investing, communicating, governing, and managing these plans to meet specific client goals. Interns will also learn about the broader services offered by WTW and how they complement the retirement consulting practice. The role involves direct exposure to client assignments and meetings, requiring imagination, creativity, data analysis, problem-solving, solution development, and result sharing. Interns will experience a balance of expanding technical and industry knowledge with developing problem-solving and communication skills, supported by a close-knit team environment.

Requirements

  • Pursuing a degree in Actuarial Science, Mathematics, Statistics, or a related field.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).

Nice To Haves

  • Previous internship or work experience in a related field.
  • Exposure to actuarial software or programming languages.
  • Progress towards actuarial exams.

Responsibilities

  • Provide technical actuarial and consulting support on projects.
  • Design, fund, price, and implement/manage retirement programs.
  • Conduct competitive benchmarking analysis of benefit plan designs.
  • Develop professional expertise, technical knowledge, and skills in retirement plans.
  • Work with a wide range of associates at all levels within the local practice.
  • Perform asset/liability modeling.
  • Perform actuarial pension valuations for various clients, including data manipulation, analysis, determining plan liabilities, reconciling plan assets, and determining funding requirements.
  • Assist with the completion of plan reporting and filing requirements.
  • Perform plan administrative tasks such as completing benefit calculations, reviewing plan documents, and producing benefit statements.
