About The Position

Harvard Protection Services is seeking a retired Law Enforcement Officer to join our team as an Armed Security Officer. This role is crucial in providing best-in-class security and life safety services to a luxury corporate office center in Downtown Chicago's South Loop. Our Officers are responsible for ensuring the safety and security of the premises, its occupants, and property through professional customer-focused services. We are a growing, privately owned company that values its employees, providing them with the resources and support needed for success.

Requirements

  • Must have previous Law Enforcement experience from a municipal Police Department
  • Must be a retired Police Officer
  • Must have a LEOSA ID or have the ability to obtain one
  • Must have your own firearm
  • State or municipality mandated security officer licenses - PERC Card
  • Minimum High School Diploma, GED or the equivalent
  • Must have reliable means of communication and transportation
  • Strong interpersonal communication skills; neat and professional appearance
  • Write routine correspondence, to include log entries and incident reporting

Nice To Haves

  • Previous contract security, law enforcement, military, customer service experience helpful

Responsibilities

  • Patrol and monitor building plaza, remove solicitors, trespassers or unauthorized visitors from grounds
  • Maintain a professional demeanor, aiding customers, employees, visitors, and guests
  • Maintain a visible presence in the facility / building assigned
  • Monitor the environment, with the ability to detect suspicious and unsafe activity
  • Responsible for becoming familiar with incoming and outgoing traffic, know the customers, tenants, and guests
  • Answer all phones in a professional manner
  • Permit authorized persons to enter property and monitor entrances and exits
  • Know the facility / building policies and procedures; enforce them within the limits of the position
  • Perform required patrols of designated areas on foot or in vehicle
  • Observe departing personnel to protect against the theft of company property and ensure authorized removal of property is conducted within appropriate customer requirements
  • Follow established emergency action planning and procedures
  • Monitor alarms and systems
  • Prepare reports on accidents, incidents, and suspicious activities, as directed
