About The Position

This role will oversee and assume all clinical responsibility for surgical patients (scheduling, orders, surgery consenting, ASCANS, etc) within a retina doctor team. Prepare clinic schedules two to three days ahead. Enroll and manage all co-pay assistance programs and specialty medication orders. Simplify current surgery workflow and alleviate the clinic team of time-consuming tasks to allow better patient flow and for the greater retina team to be more available to assist in patient care.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • One to two years’ experience working for an Ophthalmology Practice
  • Six months experience with patient surgery scheduling.
  • Friendly, outgoing, flexible team player with good customer service skills
  • Able to work in a fast-paced office environment
  • Self-starter that requires minimal direction once objectives and direction are provided
  • Well-organized with keen attention to detail
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, interacts positively with physicians, staff and patients
  • Ability to work as a team member
  • Ability to make decisions within established protocols and with minimal supervision
  • Demonstrated computer literacy
  • Familiarity with general office equipment and intranet page for support
  • Must be able to stand and sit for long periods. Work activity also requires walking, bending, reaching and lifting.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience working with a retina team or consistent interface with retina processes is a plus

Responsibilities

  • Review schedules 3 days in advance
  • Schedule surgery patients
  • Consent surgery patients
  • Complete PPQ’s for surgery patients
  • Schedule ASCANS/ print when complete and provide copy to surgeon for review
  • Add surgery orders and task to the surgeon
  • Assist with FMLA forms for patients
  • Enroll patients in co-pay assistance programs
  • Track Enrollments on Spreadsheet
  • Order Specialty medications as needed
  • Run 28-day report and RTC report as back up to office PSS team
  • Assist retina team in other tasks as needed
  • Travel to and work from all clinic locations where the retina surgeon holds clinic as well as support the surgeon in the ASC, not in a surgical capacity, as needed.
