About The Position

Coordinates day-to-day operations and activities related to a comprehensive student services program, focusing on student satisfaction and graduate outcomes. This role involves personal and academic coaching, developmental workshops, increasing student engagement, and referrals to campus resources to enhance student success. The specialist will meet regularly with identified students to assess needs, assist with academic planning and goal setting, and monitor attendance and progress. They will also help students navigate academic and non-academic resources, employ techniques to improve study skills, test-taking abilities, and time management, and serve as a mentor and role model. Additionally, the role involves referring students to community organizations, maintaining documentation of student interactions, generating performance reports, and developing strategies to meet program retention goals. Collaboration with campus administration and staff is key to improving operations and student satisfaction. The specialist will develop key metrics to track and report retention rates, identify areas of concern, and develop a written institutional retention plan. Analysis of student data will inform outreach strategies for at-risk students. The role focuses on student services initiatives that promote successful outcomes, including retention, graduation, placement, and transfer success. It also involves administrative oversight for student attrition, retention, and re-entry activities, as well as managing graduation events, special programs, and interventions like student advocacy, mediation, and conflict resolution. A tracking system will be utilized for early identification of at-risk students, and the specialist will act as a liaison and student advocate.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinates with Career Counselors to keep parties informed of at-risk students.

  • Works with campus administration and staff to improve operations in Student Services and student satisfaction rates.
  • Develops key metrics to track and report retention rates and outcomes for leadership committees.
  • Identifies key areas of concern related to student success and retention.
  • Develops a written institutional retention plan.
  • Analyzes student attendance, satisfaction, and other retention data to develop outreach strategies for students not responding to traditional programs.
  • Focuses on student services initiatives on successful student outcomes including retention, graduation, placement, and transfer success.

  • Manages additional activities including graduation, special events/programs/awards/appreciation days, and interventions such as student advocacy, mediation, conflict resolution, problem resolution, student clubs, and student development centers.
  • Utilizes a tracking system for early identification of at-risk students and contacts them to provide success strategies, services, and resources.
  • Acts as a liaison with students and the Campus to enhance services and serves as a student advocate and mediates conflicts.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
