About The Position

Room & Board is hiring a part-time Retail & Warehouse Associate for its Oak Brook team. This hands-on role combines furniture handling and merchandising with customer service. Approximately 70% of the shift is spent handling and merchandising furniture, and 30% helping customers. The associate works in a 9,400-square-foot space, keeping furniture organized, well-presented, and ready to shop while contributing to a welcoming experience for customers and staff. The schedule is Saturdays and Sundays from 9:30 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., with one weekend off each month. The position is located at 2525 West 22nd Street, Oak Brook, IL 60523. Pay is $18.50 per hour. The position remains open until filled.

Requirements

At least 2 years of experience in retail, customer service, warehouse, merchandising, or another fast-paced environment.
Strength and stamina to regularly lift and move up to 75 pounds and safely handle heavier furniture with a teammate and/or appropriate equipment.
Comfort spending most of the shift standing, walking, bending, reaching, lifting, and moving furniture.
Understanding of safe working practices and the importance of safely and efficiently handling furniture.
Ability to pass a criminal background check.
Ability to provide proof of identity and legal work authorization upon hire.

Responsibilities

Move, lift, wrap, stage, and arrange furniture and accessories throughout the store.
Welcome customers, answer product questions, and help them find furniture for their homes.
Keep furniture organized, well-presented, and ready to shop.
Work with teammates to handle furniture safely, use appropriate equipment, and keep the space running smoothly.
Learn and follow systems and processes, maintain attention to detail, and look for efficient ways to work.
Collaborate with teammates, pitch in where needed, and help create a welcoming experience for customers and staff.
