About The Position

The Retail Team Lead oversees daily operations at store level. This candidate would engage and provide leadership to a team of retail associates and ensure all customers have an exceptional consumer experience. The ideal candidate will have two or more years of retail experience leading a team in some capacity, a passion for developing and mentoring teams, and a dedication to maintaining inventory accuracy and sales excellence. This position is in-person based out of our Saint Paul Service Center. There will be occasional travel to other GSRV locations and occasional travel to off-site events. As a member of GSRV’s leadership team, this role translates organizational priorities into clear goals, leads within EOS, and models our values through daily decision-making. This leader balances clarity with empathy, urgency with sustainability, and accountability with growth.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent; associate or bachelor’s degree preferred.
  • 2+ years of leadership experience on a retail team.
  • Strong collaboration and team-building skills.
  • Strong organization and analytical skills and the ability to complete multiple, concurrent projects while meeting deadlines and delivering high-quality results.
  • Excellent customer service and communication skills. This includes oral and written communication and the ability to communicate effectively with staff, volunteers, members, and customers.
  • Flexibility and resiliency, comfortable working in ever changing environments
  • Technical skills in Microsoft Office including Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Working knowledge of Retail Point of Sale systems.
  • Experience in inventory management including working knowledge of cycle counts and physical inventories.
  • Excellent judgement, independent decision-making skills, and strong resourcefulness.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule, including evenings and weekends, as needed.
  • Passion for the Girl Scouts’ mission of developing the next generation of leaders.

  • Prior Girl Scout experience is great, but not required.

Responsibilities

  • Lead, train, and supervise a team of 2-4 Retail Associates.
  • Foster a positive, productive work environment and ensure the team is aligned with company objectives and retail goals.
  • Continuously train and develop the team, ensuring they have the skills and product knowledge to succeed in their roles.
  • Conduct weekly check-ins with Retail Associates to connect on team happenings, provide support, and encourage growth.
  • Manage and maintain accurate inventories, including conducting physical counts, ensuring the accuracy of stock levels, and addressing any discrepancies.
  • Prepare replenishment orders, coordinate the allocation of merchandise, recommend sales, markdowns and reallocation.
  • Drive sales performance by sharing clear goals and objectives, tracking progress, and motivating the team to meet and exceed targets.
  • Implement strategies delivered by the GSRV Leadership team to increase store sales and profitability.
  • Provide exceptional customer service by assisting shoppers with their needs, handling POS transactions, resolving any concerns, and ensuring a positive consumer experience.
  • Ensure the team maintains high standards of customer interaction.
  • Lead off-site pop-up shops by ensuring proper inventory levels, managing product transfers, and preparedness for sale including ticketing and organization.
  • Alongside the Director of Retail, the Team Lead will assist in coordinating the setup, merchandising, and customer experience at each event.
  • Assist retail shops at non-primary locations as needed, including providing coverage during peak times or staffing shortages, conducting inventory check-ins, and offering on-site staff training.
  • Ensure operational standards are met and support the implementation of new procedures or products to maintain a consistent experience across all locations.
  • Collaborate with colleagues across the council, GSUSA staff, and colleagues from other councils.
  • Assist in covering shops at non-officing locations to best support the needs of our customers.
  • Actively participate in all-staff meetings, staff in-service training, and other meetings.
  • When representing the council to both internal and external audiences, articulate GSRV’s desired image and position to all audiences.
