About The Position

The Arc Minnesota promotes and protects the human rights of people with intellectual and developmental disabilities. We support people and their families as they build full, included lives in their communities. For more than 30 years, Arc’s Value Village Thrift Store and Donation Center has helped fund The Arc Minnesota programs and services through the support of shoppers, donors, staff, and volunteers. Our stores provide a fun, friendly, clean, and welcoming thrift experience. The Retail Supervisor helps lead daily store operations and supports staff and volunteers across the sales floor, production area, donation center, and general labor areas. This role helps make sure guests receive excellent service, daily goals are clear and met, and the store remains safe, organized, and welcoming. Retail Supervisors also serve as opening or closing supervisors and support store operations when the Assistant Store Manager or Store Manager is not present.

Requirements

  • Ability to communicate clearly and respectfully with shoppers, donors, volunteers, and staff.
  • Ability to lead, coach, and give direction to employees and volunteers.
  • Basic comfort using workplace technology, including Microsoft Office.
  • Ability to work varied hours and days based on store needs.
  • Ability to lift boxes and bags weighing 30 to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to bend, stoop, stand, and walk throughout an assigned shift.
  • Ability to work varied hours and days based on business needs.

Nice To Haves

  • High school diploma or GED preferred, but not required.
  • Two to three years of retail supervisory experience preferred.
  • Experience leading teams, training staff, or supporting customer or guest service preferred.
  • Experience in thrift, retail, warehouse, donation center, or customer service settings.
  • Experience supporting volunteers.
  • Experience handling cash, opening or closing a store, or supporting loss prevention.
  • Comfort working in a fast-paced environment with changing priorities.

Responsibilities

  • Model and train staff and volunteers on The Arc Guest Standards.
  • Respond to questions, concerns, and issues from shoppers, donors, and volunteers in a positive and timely way.
  • Share accurate, current information about The Arc Minnesota, Arc’s Value Village, and store policies.
  • Support quick, helpful service at the donation center.
  • Lead staff and volunteer teams during assigned shifts.
  • Set clear daily priorities and help the team meet sales, rack, box, production, and donor service goals.
  • Delegate work assignments and provide coaching, direction, and feedback.
  • Train team members in sales, production, donation center, and general labor duties.
  • Participate as part of the Value Village leadership team with a focus on teamwork, communication, and a positive work environment.
  • Perform duties across sales, production, donation center, and general labor areas as needed.
  • Open and close the store as assigned.
  • Handle cash and other money-related transactions accurately and follow all money-handling policies.
  • Support sales and seasonal events.
  • Troubleshoot basic store equipment and technology needs.
  • Monitor the sales floor, production room, and donation center to help maintain safe conditions for guests, staff, and volunteers.
  • Provide leadership support during guest service, workplace, or loss prevention situations as needed.
  • Support employee performance reviews as assigned.
  • Screen and interview job candidates as assigned.
  • Maintain dependable attendance and complete assigned shifts with few exceptions.
