About The Position
The Seasonal Peak Associate at Ocean State Job Lot is a temporary seasonal position supporting essential store operations, including register support, freight receiving, and product merchandising in designated areas. The role contributes to a positive customer experience and efficient store operations in a fast-paced, dynamic retail environment during peak seasons and in newly opened stores. Associates provide customer service, process transactions, promote company initiatives, maintain merchandise displays and stock, receive deliveries, move fixtures, and help maintain a clean and safe store. The work is primarily in a climate-controlled environment, though conditions may vary across the sales floor, stockroom/receiving area, and operations/office area. The stated compensation is $15.00; compensation may be based on candidate experience and position. Associates receive a 30% discount and earned sick time in accordance with applicable laws.
Requirements
- Basic math and reading skills.
- Legible handwriting.
- Good verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to lift 35 pounds on a regular basis.
- Ability to perform frequent physical activities, including using hand tools, ascending or descending a ladder, moving, reaching, and lifting.

- Prior merchandise receiving, handling, and stocking experience in retail or warehouse environments.
Responsibilities
- Provide exceptional service, build friendly rapport using the T.R.E.A.T. model, and foster a welcoming environment.
- Operate a cash register, handle transactions accurately, and assist customers with product inquiries, locating items, and purchases.
- Promote company-wide customer initiatives, including donations, loyalty programs, and special offers.
- Maintain accurate displays, restock assigned areas, and meet merchandising standards.
- Unload deliveries according to company processes, organize merchandise, and prepare it for the sales floor.
- Safely set up and move fixtures as needed.
- Collaborate with others and work independently toward goals, and communicate improvement opportunities to store leadership.
- Understand, support, and implement store safety protocols.
- Keep the store neat, organized, and safe through regular cleaning and janitorial tasks.
