About The Position
The Seasonal Peak Associate role at Ocean State Job Lot is a temporary seasonal position supporting essential store operations, including register support, freight receiving, and product merchandising in designated areas. The role contributes to positive customer experiences and efficient store operations in a fast-paced, dynamic retail environment during peak seasons and at new store openings. Associates provide customer service, operate registers, support merchandising and deliveries, move fixtures, follow safety protocols, and help maintain a neat and safe store. The job requires frequent physical activity throughout the shift and work in various store areas, which may differ in temperature, dust levels, and accessibility. Requirements
- Basic math and reading skills.
- Legible handwriting.
- Good verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to lift 35 pounds on a regular basis.
- Ability to perform frequent physical activities, including using hand tools, climbing or descending a ladder, moving, reaching, and lifting.
Nice To Haves
- Prior merchandise receiving, handling, and stocking experience in retail or warehouse environments is preferred.
Responsibilities
- Provide exceptional service, build friendly rapport using the T.R.E.A.T. model, and foster a welcoming environment.
- Operate a cash register, handle transactions accurately, and assist customers with product inquiries, item locations, and purchases.
- Promote company-wide customer initiatives, including donations, loyalty programs, and special offers.
- Maintain displays, restock assigned areas, and meet merchandising standards.
- Unload deliveries according to company processes, organize merchandise, and prepare it for the sales floor.
- Safely set up and move fixtures as needed.
- Work collaboratively and independently to achieve goals, and communicate improvement opportunities to store leadership.
- Understand, support, and implement store safety protocols.
- Perform cleaning and janitorial tasks to maintain a neat, organized, and safe environment for customers and associates.
- Perform other job duties and tasks as requested by supervisors or managers.
