About The Position
The Seasonal Peak Associate role at Ocean State Job Lot is a temporary seasonal, part-time position supporting essential store operations, including register support, freight receiving, and product merchandising in designated areas. The associate contributes to a positive customer experience and efficient store operations in a fast-paced, dynamic environment during peak seasons and in new stores being opened. The role primarily takes place in a climate-controlled environment with minimal safety and health hazard potential, although conditions vary by store location and among sales, stockroom/receiving, and operations/office areas. Associates perform regular cleaning and janitorial tasks and must follow store safety protocols. Requirements
- Basic math and reading skills.
- Legible handwriting.
- Good verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to perform frequent physical activities including using hand tools, climbing or descending a ladder, moving, reaching, and lifting.
- Ability to lift 35 lbs on a regular basis.

Responsibilities
- Provide exceptional service, build friendly rapport by exemplifying the T.R.E.A.T. model, and foster a welcoming environment.
- Operate a cash register efficiently, handle transactions accurately, and assist customers with product inquiries, item location, and purchases.
- Promote company-wide customer initiatives, including donations, loyalty programs, and special offers.
- Maintain accurate displays, restock assigned areas, and meet OSJL merchandising standards.
- Unload deliveries according to company processes, organize merchandise, and prepare it for the sales floor.
- Safely set up and move fixtures as needed.
- Collaborate effectively and independently to achieve goals and proactively communicate opportunities for improvement to store leadership.
- Understand, support, and implement safety protocols throughout the store.
- Maintain a neat, organized, and safe environment for customers and associates through regular cleaning and janitorial tasks.
