About The Position
Oak Tree Treasures is seeking a Part-Time Retail Store Associate to provide friendly, welcoming, and helpful service to customers and donors. This role involves operating the cash register, processing transactions, assisting customers, and maintaining a positive attitude. The associate will also be responsible for store operations, including maintaining clean and organized sales floors, restocking merchandise, organizing and pricing donations, and assisting with donation processing. They will follow all cash-handling, safety, security, and loss-prevention procedures, and complete opening and closing duties. The position requires comfort operating the store independently during assigned shifts and ensuring the store remains clean, safe, organized, and customer-ready. The associate will also support employees and volunteers, represent Oak Tree Treasures professionally, and assist managers with daily tasks.
Requirements
- Previous retail, customer service, cashier, or thrift-store experience preferred.
- Must be dependable and punctual.
- Ability to work independently and make appropriate decisions within established policies.
- Strong customer service and communication skills.
- Comfortable handling cash and operating a POS system.
- Ability to maintain a professional attitude in a busy retail environment.
- Must be flexible and willing to work at both Oak Tree Treasures locations.
- Reliable transportation and the ability to travel between locations as needed.
- Ability to work evenings, weekends, and extended hours as scheduled.
- Must be able to safely lift, carry, bend, stand, and move merchandise throughout the workday.
Responsibilities
- Provide friendly, welcoming, and helpful service to customers and donors.
- Operate the cash register accurately and efficiently.
- Process cash and card transactions according to Oak Tree Treasures policies.
- Apply approved discounts, promotions, coupons, and loyalty programs correctly.
- Assist customers with questions and help them locate merchandise.
- Maintain a positive and professional attitude with customers, volunteers, and coworkers.
- Maintain clean, organized, and well-merchandised sales floors.
- Restock merchandise and keep displays full and appealing.
- Organize and price donated merchandise according to store guidelines.
- Keep fitting rooms, checkout areas, donation areas, and other assigned areas clean and orderly.
- Assist with receiving and processing donations.
- Follow all cash-handling, safety, security, and loss-prevention procedures.
- Complete assigned opening and closing procedures.
- Work scheduled extended-hour shifts (until 8 pm).
- Operate the store independently during assigned shifts when management is not present.
- Ensure the store remains clean, safe, organized, and customer-ready throughout the shift.
- Address routine customer and operational issues appropriately and communicate any concerns to management.
- Complete closing procedures and secure the store when assigned to close.
- Communicate important information, incidents, or operational concerns to management before the end of the shift.
- Work respectfully and cooperatively with employees and volunteers.
- Help create a welcoming environment for volunteers and customers.
- Provide direction and assistance to volunteers within the scope of the position.
- Support Store Managers and Assistant Store Managers with daily operational tasks.
- Represent Oak Tree Treasures in a professional and positive manner.
