About The Position
The Seasonal Peak Associate role at Ocean State Job Lot is a temporary seasonal position supporting essential store operations, including register support, freight receiving, and product merchandising in designated areas. The role contributes to a positive customer experience and efficient store operations in a fast-paced, dynamic environment, including during peak seasons and in new stores being opened. Associates provide customer service, operate registers, support merchandising and deliveries, maintain store safety and cleanliness, and collaborate with store colleagues and leadership. The role primarily takes place in a climate-controlled environment, though conditions vary across the sales area, stockroom/receiving area, and operations/office area.
Requirements
- Basic math and reading skills.
- Legible handwriting.
- Good verbal and written communication skills.
- Able to lift 35 lbs on a regular basis.
Nice To Haves
- Prior merchandise receiving, handling, and stocking experience in retail or warehouse environments.
Responsibilities
- Provide exceptional service, build friendly rapport by exemplifying the T.R.E.A.T. model, and foster a welcoming environment.
- Operate a cash register efficiently, handle transactions accurately, and assist customers with product inquiries, item locations, and purchases.
- Promote Company-wide customer initiatives, including donations, loyalty programs, and special offers.
- Maintain accurate displays, restock assigned areas, and meet OSJL merchandising standards.
- Unload deliveries according to Company processes, organize merchandise, and prepare it for the sales floor.
- Safely set up and move fixtures as needed.
- Collaborate effectively and independently to achieve goals, and proactively communicate opportunities for improvement to store leadership.
- Understand, support, and implement store safety protocols.
- Maintain a neat, organized, and safe environment for customers and associates through regular cleaning and janitorial tasks.
