About The Position
The Seasonal Peak Associate role at Ocean State Job Lot is a temporary seasonal position supporting essential store operations, including register support, freight receiving, and product merchandising in designated areas. The role contributes to a positive customer experience and efficient store operations in a fast-paced, dynamic environment during peak seasons and at newly opened stores. The position works primarily in a climate-controlled environment, though conditions vary by store and work area, including sales, stockroom/receiving, and operations/office areas. Tasks involve extended periods of movement and stationary positioning, use of hand tools, ladder use, reaching, and frequent lifting. Associates should be able to lift 35 pounds regularly. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform essential functions.
Requirements
- Basic math and reading skills.
- Legible handwriting.
- Good verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to lift 35 pounds on a regular basis.
- Ability to perform tasks involving extended periods of moving, remaining stationary, ascending, descending, and positioning; frequent use of hand tools, ladder use, moving, reaching, and lifting.
Nice To Haves
- Prior merchandise receiving, handling, and stocking experience in retail or warehouse environments is preferred.
Responsibilities
- Provide exceptional service and build friendly rapport by exemplifying the T.R.E.A.T. model and fostering a welcoming environment.
- Operate a cash register, handle transactions accurately, and assist customers with product inquiries, item locations, and purchases.
- Promote company-wide customer initiatives, including donations, loyalty programs, and special offers.
- Maintain accurate displays, restock assigned areas, and meet merchandising standards.
- Unload deliveries according to company processes, organize merchandise, and prepare it for the sales floor.
- Safely set up and move fixtures as needed.
- Collaborate effectively and independently to achieve goals, and communicate opportunities for improvement to store leadership.
- Understand, support, and implement store safety protocols.
- Maintain a neat, organized, and safe environment through regular cleaning and janitorial tasks.
- Perform other duties and tasks as requested by supervisors or managers.
