About The Position

Assists the Retail Store Manager and Retail Assistant Store Manager in the operation and management of a retail center by performing various duties personally or through supporting team members. This role demonstrates commitment to organizational values, provides excellent customer experiences, and acts as an ambassador for Palmetto Goodwill. The position embraces a culture of learning and growth, celebrates diversity and inclusion, and enthusiastically receives and processes donations. Responsibilities include sorting, pricing, and stocking merchandise, accurately utilizing the point-of-sale system, and exceeding production goals. The role also involves maintaining a clean work environment, mastering various retail functions, obtaining necessary certifications (forklift, stacker, CPR/First Aid), training and coaching team members, issuing refunds, resolving customer concerns, reporting security issues, and complying with all agency policies and safety standards. The Shift Leader also performs administrative and clerical duties, including opening/closing procedures, bank deposits, and securing the building in the absence of management.

Requirements

Read and interpret memos and operating and procedure manuals.
Effectively present standard information in one-on-one situations to customers and other team members of the organization using tact, courtesy and cooperativeness.
Add/subtract two digit numbers and multiply and divide by 10's and 100's.
Apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions.
Deal with problems involving a few concrete variables.
Operate a telephone, multi-key register, typewriter, computer, fax machine, and material handling equipment.
Obtain and maintain Forklift/Stacker and CPR/First Aid certifications.
Perform data entry and keyboarding.
Instruct or verify the work of others.
High School diplomas or general education degree (GED) and one year of retail experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Accurately records donations, production of merchandise and specified tasks.
Exceeds established production goals corresponding to role in retail location.
Maintains clean work environment.
Demonstrates a mastery of cashier, softline production, and donor services / hardline production roles through evaluation.
Obtains and maintains forklift and walk-behind stacker certification.
Obtains and maintains first-aid / CPR / BBP certification.
Trains team members as they are on boarded. Ensures that a positive example is set for all team members.
Recognizes when team members need coaching and provides immediate coaching when applicable.
Issue refunds and resolves customer concerns.
Reports known or suspected security and/or theft problems to a member of store management, appropriate District Manager, and/or Asset Protection department.
Complies with all agency policies, procedures, and safety standards throughout all work areas; maintains same to meet CARF, Department of Labor, and other regulatory standards.
Leads retail team and store activities in the absence of/and at the direction of the Retail Store Manager and/or Retail Assistant Store Manager.
Performs all administrative and clerical duties including but not limited to completing opening/closing duties, making bank deposits and securing the building at the direction of the Store Manager or Assistant Manager.
Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
Leads retail team and store activities in the absence of/and at the direction of the Retail Store Manager and/or Retail Assistant Store Manager.
Carries out leadership responsibilities in accordance with the Agency's policies and procedures.
Responsibilities include training team members, planning, assigning, and directing work; addressing concerns and reporting circumstances to the Retail Store Manager or Retail Assistant Store Manager.
