About The Position

We have made the decision to pursue international expansion, and we are standing up an International Sales team to bring Instacart’s best-in-class e-commerce technologies to retailers outside of North America! In this role, you will be responsible for supporting global go-to-market efforts, introducing our technologies to retailers across key international markets. Responsibilities will include identifying and engaging with strategic partners, shaping tailored commercial strategies, aligning cross-functional teams to support international growth efforts, leading external selling efforts, negotiating contracts and more - all in service of accelerating adoption of our solutions abroad. The International Sales Team is part of Business Development at Instacart. We are responsible for driving strategic retail deals in target international markets, in close collaboration with cross-functional stakeholders across a number of functions (Business Development Account Management, Product, Finance, Marketing, Legal, Comms and Partnerships).

Requirements

  • You have 7-10 years of experience in e-commerce sales, business development, partnerships, or a related field with a track record in closing deals and navigating cross-functional dynamics - focus on grocery and/or international markets is highly preferred
  • You possess strong analytical skills and are adept at market analysis and competitive intelligence
  • You are a strong communicator and relationship builder, and you are comfortable with frequent customer engagements and navigating uncertainty
  • You have a strong understanding of what constitutes a winning ecommerce strategy, and you have a knack for crafting sales narratives articulating value propositions
  • You are proficient in creating visually appealing selling collateral that resonates with senior audiences
  • You are known for your problem-solving skills and resilience, capable of navigating complex challenges and ambiguity in innovative ways.
  • You take initiative, thrive in ambiguity and you are comfortable working autonomously and with lean teams

Responsibilities

  • Assess the landscape of e-commerce technologies and offerings in target markets to position Instacart’s competitive value prop
  • Canvas international markets to identify high-potential retailer targets. Source, evaluate, and prioritize these retailer candidates for outreach, leveraging data, market insights, and strategic fit
  • Identify individuals at retail targets and execute sales outreach
  • Craft compelling, tailored sales narratives and sales collateral that addresses bespoke retailer needs and articulate clear business value
  • Support end-to-end pitch processes with international retailers, from initial engagement through deal negotiation
  • Communicate technical and business requirements necessary to support international opportunities
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with Product, Marketing, Legal, and Account Management to align internal roadmaps with partner requirements
  • Track, manage, and report pipeline performance and key sales metrics to Instacart leadership
  • Expect frequent international travel
