About The Position

As a Retail Sales Counselor, you will be responsible for counseling, advising, and otherwise assisting retail store owners and managers on how best and most profitably to operate a retail supermarket. You will also be effectively engaging the various services and programs of the company and by the application of your own experienced judgment, you will be the first point of contact with the retailer and own the relationship.

  • Valid Driver's License and Valid Insurance with extended liability limits.
  • Liability Insurance Requirement: You are required to carry $500,000 single limit coverage, but we will accept $100,000/$300,000/$50,000 limits on the policy, if the single limit coverage is not available.
  • Must maintain a clear driving record.
  • 5-7 years of Senior store management experience.
  • General Equivalency Diploma - General Studies, High School Diploma - General Studies

Responsibilities

  • Create, nurture, and maintain a positive climate between retailers and the company and between each retailer and the Retail Counselor.
  • Accumulate and organize relevant economic and operating data which will enable the retailer's in conjunction with the company, to plan, organize, and manage the retailer's operations, in the most effective manner possible.
  • Accumulate and assemble internal facts, which are relevant to the management of each retail store. Such facts generally include: sales / market share / customer count / productivity measurements / transaction data / distributions / margins / expense controls / profits / gross & net / R.O.I. / cash flow / competitive situation / shrink / marketing / and advertising.
  • Analyze and organize data into usable form.
  • Coordinate as necessary, with relevant retail support services, such as store development, marketing, financial services, real estate, etc.
  • Initiate and/or continue to support and administer, short and long range plans aimed at perpetuating retail viability, by developing "A plan for every store".
  • Set goals and determine specific objectives for operational improvements, promotional activities, and physical store development.
  • In his/her short-term retail planning, the Retail Counselor will focus primarily on operational, promotional and GSC sales program issues. Long term planning is to concentrate principally on upgrading of the physical facility. This is to include remodeling, expansion, and or relocation.
  • Major projects will be coordinated with company support services.
  • Recommend solutions to retailers and assist them in selecting and implementing the best course of action.
  • Annually develop budgets for assigned territory.
