About The Position

This part-time position involves greeting customers, completing transactions efficiently and in a friendly manner, and supporting Goodwill's mission by offering to round up transactions and thanking customers. The role requires excellent customer service skills and strong cash handling abilities. Associates will operate a point-of-sale (POS) cash register system, ensure product accuracy, and maintain a well-stocked and organized sales floor. The position also involves opening and closing procedures, maintaining a clean environment, and potentially cross-training in other departments.

Requirements

Ability to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
Accurate with numbers and general calculations.
Understanding the value of different coins and US currency.
Ability to use basic math (adding, subtracting, multiplication).
Ability to effectively communicate with customers, managers, supervisors, staff, and peers.
Ability to operate a computer-based cash register and credit card machine.
Ability to withstand prolonged standing, bending, and lifting up to eight (8) hours per day.
Ability to see color for accurate transactions.
Ability to work a varied schedule including weekends, evenings, and holidays with occasional overtime as necessary.

Nice To Haves

High School diploma or equivalent is preferred.
One (1) year of retail sales or cash handling experience is preferred.

Responsibilities

Greeting customers in a welcoming manner and responding professionally to inquiries.
Operating a point-of-sale (POS) cash register system to ensure accurate product and pricing at the time of purchase.
Verifying till counts, providing accurate cashier transactions, and maintaining a balanced cash drawer.
Driving the roundup initiative by engaging customers and explaining the mission it supports.
Providing excellent customer service and upholding company values.
Assisting customers with questions, concerns, and purchases.
Completing opening and closing procedures.
Maintaining a clean and organized sales floor by cleaning and organizing shelves and racks, picking up items, putting away product, and organizing returned or unwanted items.
Ensuring a safe, clean, organized, and well-stocked POS, sales floor, and restrooms.
Initiating customer delight/power hour calls over the intercom to organize and clean the sales floor.
Following all retail center policies and procedures.
Following all safety processes and procedures to ensure a safe working environment.
Cross-training in other departments or areas and acting as a backup as required.
