About The Position

This part-time position involves greeting customers, completing transactions efficiently and in a friendly manner, and supporting Goodwill's mission by encouraging customers to round up their purchases. Excellent customer service skills are essential. The role requires operating a point-of-sale (POS) cash register system, maintaining a balanced cash drawer, and ensuring accurate product pricing. Associates will also be responsible for maintaining a clean and organized sales floor, completing opening and closing procedures, and assisting customers with inquiries and purchases. The position may also involve cross-training in other departments and additional responsibilities as needed.

Requirements

Accurate with numbers and general calculations.
Understanding the value of different coins and US currency.
Ability to use basic math (adding, subtracting, multiplication).
Effective communication with customers, managers, supervisors, staff, and peers.
Ability to operate a computer-based cash register and credit card machine.
Ability to withstand prolonged standing, bending, and lifting up to eight hours per day.
Ability to see color for accurate transactions.
Must be able to work a varied schedule including weekends, evenings, and holidays with occasional overtime as necessary.

Nice To Haves

Strong cash handling skills are highly preferred.
A High School diploma or equivalent is preferred.
One (1) year of retail sales or cash handling experience is preferred.

Responsibilities

Verifying till counts and providing accurate cashier transactions.
Maintaining a balanced cash drawer using a computer-based point-of-sale system.
Driving the roundup initiative by engaging customers and explaining the mission it supports.
Providing excellent customer service and upholding company values.
Assisting customers with questions, concerns, and purchases.
Completing opening and closing procedures.
Maintaining a clean and organized sales floor by cleaning and organizing shelves and racks, picking up items, putting away product, and handling returned or unwanted items.
Ensuring a safe, clean, organized, and well-stocked POS, sales floor, and restrooms.
Initiating customer delight/power hour calls over the intercom to organize and clean the sales floor.
Following all retail center policies and procedures.
Following all safety processes and procedures to ensure a safe working environment.
Cross-training in other departments or areas and acting as a backup as required.
