About The Position

This part-time position involves greeting customers, completing transactions efficiently and in a friendly manner, and supporting Goodwill's mission by encouraging customers to round up their transactions. Excellent customer service skills are essential. The role requires operating a point-of-sale (POS) cash register system, maintaining an organized sales floor, and ensuring accurate product pricing during purchases. The Associate I, Retail Sales Cashier is responsible for providing exceptional customer service, responding professionally to inquiries, and maintaining a well-stocked and organized sales floor.

Requirements

  • Accuracy with numbers and general calculations.
  • Understanding the value of different coins and United States (US) currency.
  • Ability to use basic math such as adding, subtracting, and multiplication.
  • Effective communication with customers, managers, supervisors, staff, and peers.
  • Ability to operate a computer-based cash register and credit card machine.
  • Ability to withstand prolonged standing, bending, and lifting up to eight (8) hours per day.
  • Ability to see color for accurate transactions.
  • Ability to work a varied schedule to include weekends, evenings, and holidays with occasional overtime as necessary.

Nice To Haves

  • Strong cash handling skills are highly preferred.
  • A High School diploma or equivalent is preferred.
  • One (1) year of retail sales or cash handling experience is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Verifying till counts, providing accurate cashier transactions, and maintaining a balanced cash drawer using a computer-based point-of-sale system.
  • Driving the roundup initiative by engaging customers and sharing knowledge of the mission it supports.
  • Providing excellent customer service upholding company values.
  • Assisting customers with questions, concerns, and purchases.
  • Completing opening and closing procedures.
  • Maintaining a clean and organized sales floor by regularly cleaning and organizing shelves and racks, picking items up off the floor, putting away product from racks, carts, or baskets, and putting away returned or unwanted items.
  • Providing a safe, clean, organized, and well-stocked POS, sales floor, and restrooms.
  • Initiating customer delight/power hour calls over intercom to organize and clean sales floor.
  • Following all retail center policies and procedures.
  • Following all safety processes and procedures to help provide a safe working environment for employees and customers.
  • Cross-training in other departments or areas and acting as a back-up for other areas as required.
  • Performing additional responsibilities as required.
