About The Position

Retail Sales Associates help ensure New Balance retail stores operate smoothly and provide exemplary customer service. Using expert product knowledge and proper selling techniques, they assist customers throughout the transaction process and positively represent the New Balance brand. This is a seasonal retail position in Mebane, North Carolina. The stated hourly pay range is $11.90–$17.85, with actual base pay varying based on factors including relevant experience, time in role, internal equity, and geographic location.

Requirements

• Must be 18 years of age or older.
• Strong customer service and verbal communication skills.
• Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a team environment.
• Familiarity with cash register functions.
• Ability to perform basic math quickly.
• Willingness to work a flexible schedule that may include weekends and holidays.
• Ability to lift 4 pounds frequently and a maximum of 8 pounds occasionally.
• Ability to move product boxes up to 50 pounds, with assistance if necessary.
• Ability to kneel or squat frequently, stand for extended periods, climb ladders occasionally, and climb and descend stairs frequently depending on location.

• Past retail experience is preferred but not necessary.

Responsibilities

• Provide customer service using proper selling techniques, product knowledge, and the GUEST service model: greet customers, understand their needs, educate them about product features and benefits, solve problems or answer questions, and complete transactions using suggestive selling, multiple selling, and effective closing.
• Measure and fit customers with appropriate New Balance products.
• Inform customers about current promotions.
• Keep the sales floor neat, organized, well stocked, and looking its best.
• Ensure items are properly labeled and price marked.
• Help protect products by greeting customers, attaching and detaching security tags, monitoring merchandise, and reporting shrinkage and security violations.
• Follow safety regulations, including proper lifting procedures, and promptly report accidents and near misses.
