About The Position

The Range in McKinney is a family-owned indoor shooting range seeking a Retail Counter Associate and Event Manager who is 21 years old or older. This role combines retail counter duties with event management responsibilities, ranging from family celebrations to full range rentals with food. A primary focus of this job is working the retail counter, where you will greet members and guests, perform sales transactions, assign shooting lanes, assist with firearm rentals and sales (once trained), and handle administrative processes like the 4473 and NICS background check (once trained). You will also be responsible for answering phones, selling merchandise, communicating safety requirements, and performing opening and closing tasks. The event management aspect includes ensuring proper staffing, coordinating with vendors, scheduling, and monitoring events. The ideal candidate is hardworking, honest, friendly, and willing to learn about the firearms industry, even if they lack prior firearms experience. This is a no-woke, smoke, and vape-free environment where teamwork and customer care are paramount. All staff are subject to background checks, drug tests, and lead level tests.

Requirements

• Must be 21 years old or older
• Excellent people and customer service skills
• Ability to work a flexible schedule (weekends, weekdays and some holidays)
• Ability to work 30+ hours per week
• Reliable transportation
• Ability to multi-task
• Ability to take care of members/guests quickly and efficiently
• Ability to work without direction
• Must be able to say “NO” when necessary
• High school or equivalent education
• Must be able to legally purchase a firearm in the US
• Willing to learn about and enjoy working around the sport of shooting
• Hardworking, honest and friendly

Nice To Haves

• Experience in retail, events or working in a restaurant is beneficial
• If lacking firearms experience, training will be provided

Responsibilities

• Greet members and guests
• Perform sales transactions using a computerized point of sale system
• Assign shooting lanes – coordinate range traffic
• Assist with firearm rental(s)
• Assist members/guests in choosing a new or rental firearm – once trained
• Complete 4473 and NICS Background check process - once trained
• Answer phone calls
• Sell ammunition, memberships, classes and merchandise
• Communicate safety requirements to members and guests – once trained
• Perform opening and closing tasks
• Be willing to learn about the firearms industry
• Be responsible for the retail area
• Keep the retail inventory in order
• Be able to work an event when needed
• Ensure proper staffing for various events
• Coordinate with caterers, restaurants, and outside vendors
• Coordinate scheduling
• Monitor event
