About The Position

Denali is seeking an experienced Class A CDL Retail Route Driver for its Lakeland, FL location. This full-time, safety-sensitive position involves a 5-day route with an early morning start. The driver will be responsible for safely and efficiently picking up and hauling food waste from retail locations, operating company tractor-trailer equipment on regional and interstate routes, and completing approximately 15-25 stops per day. Responsibilities extend beyond driving to include loading, unloading, cleaning containers, handling equipment, performing basic repairs, and maintaining truck cleanliness. The role requires accurate electronic DOT driver logs, proper documentation, and regular communication with customers, vendors, and the operations team. Drivers must be prepared for route and assignment changes based on business needs, including interstate routes. The schedule involves a 5-day workweek with early AM starts, and flexible availability is required, with potential for up to 60 hours in a 7-day week or 70 hours in 8 days during busy periods, in accordance with regulations.

Requirements

  • Valid Class A CDL
  • Self-certified as a Non-Excepted Interstate driver with the state of issuance
  • Clean MVR and PSP
  • At least 23 years old with 2 years of full-time, verifiable tractor-trailer experience, OR at least 21 years old with 1 year of tractor-trailer experience if you are a graduate of a truck driving school or have 1 year of military experience
  • Stable work history
  • Must pass a pre-employment drug screen
  • Strong safety record and willingness to follow DOT and company safety requirements
  • Good communication and customer service skills
  • Able to work independently and stay on schedule

Responsibilities

  • Drive company tractor-trailer equipment on assigned regional and interstate routes
  • Complete approximately 15–25 stops per day, depending on the assigned route
  • Load, haul, and deliver food waste from retail locations
  • Operate 30–45' open-top dump trailers and combination vehicles
  • Operate both manual and automatic transmission vehicles in accordance with DOT requirements and applicable laws
  • Use manual or electric pallet jacks as needed
  • Pressure wash bins and containers and leave customer locations clean and free of debris
  • Perform thorough pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections
  • Perform basic repairs to company bins and equipment using common hand tools
  • Maintain the cleanliness and basic equipment of the truck
  • Accurately complete electronic DOT driver logs
  • Maintain service tickets, contamination reports, maintenance paperwork, and other required documentation
  • Communicate regularly with customers, vendors, and the operations team
  • Report accidents, injuries, equipment issues, and service concerns immediately
  • Participate in weekly safety calls, training, and safety briefings
  • Use a company computer and cell phone for communication, training, and expense management
