About The Position

The Retail Process Owner is responsible for supporting the fluctuating needs of the Retail Operations team through process improvement initiatives, project and program management, the creation and sustainment of operational documentation, and cross-functional operational initiative-based support. This position requires a strong eye for detail, change management skills, exceptional verbal and written communication, and the ability to balance changing priorities. The ideal candidate possesses a unique mix of process expertise and communication skills positioning them to deliver innovative solutions that gain alignment, drive adoption, and scale seamlessly across the chain. The Retail Process Owner ensures retail processes, communications, and documentation of all assigned projects follow a consistent structure, provide clear direction, and have been approved by operations leadership to create an exceptional associate experience and a platform for flawless store execution. This position will require a passion for process improvement, a drive for results, and documentation excellence.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, or related field of study, or 3 years of equivalent work experience
  • Demonstrated ability to create standard operating procedures and train corporate and field partners
  • Advanced analytical skills coupled with an ability to interpret data, communicate findings, and propose recommendations.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Product Suite, including Excel, PowerPoint, Word, and SharePoint
  • Demonstrated ability to perform and remain organized in a fast-paced, deadline-drive environment
  • Capable of problem-solving through analyzing ambiguous data, proactively anticipate gaps, communicate findings, and propose recommendations
  • Ability to quickly learn and understand business processes outside area of expertise
  • Drive initiatives and accept accountability for project progress and quality

Nice To Haves

  • Professional certification in process improvement, project management, and/or Lean Six Sigma is desirable
  • Previous work experience related to process improvement and/or project management is a plus
  • Retail management experience and strong business acumen is a plus

Responsibilities

  • Strong process expertise in the development of standard operating procedures, productivity improvements, and best practices
  • Ability to implement process improvements and change management initiatives that align with Company strategies for an optimal guest experience, sustained growth, and enhanced profit
  • Analyze and recommend methods for improving associate efficiency and reducing/eliminating non-value-added activities, including the restructuring of primary job duties, reorganizing workflows, and job setup
  • Balances a heavy workload and seamlessly shifts focuses to deliver on changing business needs
  • Works to understand technical and unfamiliar information and logically organize it in a clear and compelling manner
  • Integrates the Ulta Beauty brand image through internal associate tools and resources
  • Controls voice and tone of documentation through communication, format, and design
  • Participates in cross-functional meetings, representing the store operations perspective, making recommendations, and reviewing takeaways with operational leadership following the meeting
  • Collaborates cross-functionally to launch new initiatives and track performance
  • Influences key stakeholders to complete projects and achieve results in an autonomous manner
  • Facilitates proactive change management to all levels of the organization impacted by project rollouts
  • Gathers content, writes, and updates documents in alignment to operational and corporate strategy
  • Analyze data to determine appropriate actions needed to optimize results
  • Perform root cause analysis to identify process gaps & create a remediation plan to drive improvements
  • Works cross functionally to identify and implement improvements at the corporate office that have a positive downstream impact to our store associates and guests
  • Develop and document training materials for best practices and cost saving projects
  • Participates in training and testing for new systems and processes as part of implementation plan
  • Uses existing templates and style guides to facilitate standardization and compliance yet looks for opportunities to improve and provides recommendations
  • Maintains an organized library of current and previous store documentation, communication, and resources, adhering to the outlined naming convention and version control process
  • Execute other operational tasks as directed
