About The Position

MercyOne is seeking a Retail Pharmacy Tech Trainee to join their team. This role involves performing mathematical calculations, exercising professional judgment with customers, and serving all age groups. The trainee will also be expected to display satisfactory customer relations skills, adhere to Pharmacy Citizenship Standards, and utilize effective communication skills. The position requires the ability to organize, prioritize, and function in a stressful environment, as well as proficiency with hospital and pharmacy information systems.

Requirements

Must be 17 years of age or older and eligible to sit for the national technician certification exam within 1 year of hire
Registration with Iowa Board of Pharmacy as a trainee prior to start of employment
Pass the test for and maintain national technician certification as outlined by the Iowa Board of Pharmacy within 1 year of employment. If unable to pass the test within 1 year of employment, the employee will need to be terminated from the pharmacy technician trainee position.

Responsibilities

Be competent and accurate with performing math calculations involving addition, subtraction, multiplication, divisions, percentages, fractions and the metric system.
Demonstrate the ability to exercise professional judgment in dealing with pharmacy’s customers.
Be competent and thorough in performing job functions to all age groups.
Display satisfactory customer relation skills consistent with Mercy’s mission, values and expectations.
Display behavior consistent with Pharmacy Citizenship Standards.
Effectively utilize verbal and written communication skills.
Organize, prioritize, and function in an environment with multiple stress factors.
Be competent with all hospital and pharmacy information system programs that pharmacy utilizes.
