About The Position

The Retail Pharmacy Technician is responsible for assisting the pharmacist in Southeast Health, Southeast Medicine Shop as dictated by the Alabama State Law. This role involves assisting in the preparation and safe dispensing of prescriptions, including computer software inputting, counting, and assisting with robotic dispensing. It also includes handling insurance adjudication and troubleshooting, providing high-quality customer service, operating cash registers, and managing inventory. The technician must manage all obtained information with strict confidentiality to safeguard patient information. They must follow Southeast Health’s safety guidelines and infection prevention policies, handle communications in a manner that decreases conflict, and demonstrate assertiveness techniques. The role requires practicing effective stress reduction techniques and seeking resources for direction when necessary. The technician is responsible for meeting education requirements by attending annually required in-service programs, attending available non-required educational programs relative to patient care responsibilities, and completing annual competency evaluation requirements. Assignments must be completed within the specified time period or shift.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Pharmacy technician licensure from Alabama State Board of Pharmacy
  • Ability to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in an emergency situation.
