About The Position

Banner Staffing Services offers Registry/Per Diem opportunities within Banner Health. Registry/Per Diem positions are utilized as needed within our facilities. These positions are great way to start your career with Banner Health. As a BSS team member, you are eligible to apply (at any time) as an internal applicant to any regular opportunities within Banner Health. This position floats between Banner Family Pharmacy at Gateway Medical Center, Banner Family Pharmacy at Banner Baywood Medical Center, Banner Family Pharmacy at Banner Desert Medical Center, and Banner Family Pharmacy at Banner University Medical Center Phoenix, providing coverage for planned and unplanned staffing needs, including PTO, sick leave, and holiday coverage. This role offers the opportunity to work across multiple pharmacy locations while supporting seamless operations and ensuring exceptional patient care.

Requirements

  • Requires Pharmacy Technician licensure and active Pharmacy Technician certification OR Pharmacy Intern licensure in the state of practice.
  • Incumbents in Arizona are also required to provide the AZ Board of Pharmacy Wallet Card at time of hire.
  • Minimal experience, typically gained through 0-2 years relevant work experience.
  • Ability to attend and successfully complete 160 hours of on the job training required.
  • Strong customer service focus, superior problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to complete moderate to difficult mathematical calculations using a hand-held calculator is required.
  • BSS Registry Team members and Travelers are not eligible to drive on behalf of Banner and are not required to possess a valid driver’s license or be eligible for coverage under the company’s auto insurance policy.

Nice To Haves

  • Associates or bachelor’s degree in related field preferred.
  • Proficiency and experience with third party claims adjudication and claims rejection reconciliation preferred.
  • Proficiency and experience with non-sterile, sterile and hazardous drug compounding preferred.
  • Work experience which demonstrates analytical ability, judgment and interpersonal skills in pharmacy or healthcare preferred.
  • Experience and proficiency with computer software applications (Word, Excel, Outlook) or comparable program.
  • Additional related education and/or experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Under the direct supervision of a pharmacist, review and interpret prescriptions.
  • Prepare and dispense appropriate amount of medication under supervision of a pharmacist. Deliver medications accurately to the patient.
  • Answer phones, accept prescriptions, and may communicate with patients in waiting area.
  • Assist with inventory, maintain a clean work environment, and assist with any other administrative duties as assigned by supervising pharmacists or senior technicians.
  • Follow policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements and perform other work assignment.
  • May require periodic to frequent use of personal computer.
  • Off-site travel may be required.
