The Retail Pharmacy Technician assists licensed pharmacists in technical duties related to the preparation and distribution of medications. This role involves accurately selecting, preparing, and labeling medications, including hazardous drugs and controlled substances. The technician will also screen phone calls, manage pharmacy procurement and inventory, and perform nonsterile compounding and sterile IV admixture where applicable. Responsibilities include inspecting medication storage areas, completing medication admission histories, and supporting quality improvement initiatives and training of new technicians. The role also involves data entry, third-party billing functions, and potentially obtaining immunization certification and performing immunizations under supervision. Additionally, the technician may operate an Advocate Health-owned motor vehicle to deliver medications and supplies.
