This is a part-time position with approximately 18 hours per week. The schedule includes Saturdays and Sundays from 8 AM to 2 PM, and flexible 6-hour shifts on Fridays between 8 AM and 8 PM. The role involves assisting licensed pharmacists in technical duties related to medication preparation and distribution, including handling hazardous drugs and controlled substances. Responsibilities also include screening phone calls, managing pharmacy inventory, performing nonsterile compounding and sterile IV admixture (where applicable), documenting medication histories, and potentially assisting in training other technicians. The position requires adherence to all organizational policies, legal, regulatory, and accreditation standards, and may involve operating a vehicle to deliver medications. The role also includes patient demographic and insurance information gathering, data entry, and cashiering, with a requirement to develop competence in third-party billing functions. Additionally, the technician must be able to provide age-appropriate patient care and may obtain immunization certification to perform immunizations under pharmacist supervision.
