Under direct supervision, performs tasks involved in the preparation and distribution of medications checked by a licensed Pharmacist. Responsibilities are divided into two phases: prior to obtaining an Oklahoma State Board of Pharmacy Technician Permit, and after obtaining the permit. Prior to permit, duties are limited to auxiliary supportive personnel tasks. After obtaining the permit, core responsibilities include preparing and packaging medications, transporting medications, refilling cassettes, restocking automated dispensing machines, delivering IV fluids, performing light housekeeping, restocking returned medications, preparing IV admixtures, setting up IV compounders, preparing sterile items, assisting with IV room stock, assisting with automated dispensing machine setup, training other technicians, filling floor stock requests, maintaining logs for reordering, participating in billing routines, assisting with receiving and shelving medications, restocking satellite pharmacies, rotating stock to prevent outdating, and maintaining IV room stock. The role also involves preparing verification of use forms, drug supply, and maintaining a controlled dangerous substances inventory database, as well as participating in daily physical counts and reporting discrepancies.
