About The Position

At DICK’S Sporting Goods, the Outdoor Lead at House of Sport is responsible for providing expert product recommendations tailored to individual customer needs and skill levels. This role involves overseeing the daily operations and workflow within the Outdoor department, reporting to the Assistant Store Manager. The Outdoor Lead is crucial in building customer relationships through exceptional service, focusing on outdoor activities like fishing, camping, and hiking. Key aspects of the role include driving sales, maintaining company standards for merchandise presentation and operations, and contributing to storewide functions as needed.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • 1-3 years experience
  • Prior retail experience preferred

Responsibilities

  • Provide thoughtful product recommendations based on customer skill and experience levels.
  • Direct workflow and oversee daily operations within the Outdoor department.
  • Build meaningful customer relationships through elevated customer service in outdoor activities.
  • Drive results and ensure adherence to Company standards.
  • Assist with storewide operations as needed.
  • Drive the highest level of customer service within the Outdoor department.
  • Engage in behaviors aligned with company service and selling standards.
  • Ensure the customer experience includes product experts providing consultative advice and demonstrating excellent product knowledge.
  • Uphold standards for merchandise presentation, following established floor sets, signing requirements, price changes, replenishment, recovery, and in-stock processes.
  • Guide and educate customers on the use and maintenance of their equipment and accessories.
  • Assist store management with general supervision, including opening and closing procedures, and performing Front End and Cash Office functions.
  • Assist with department scheduling, directing workflow, daily guide assignments, and monitoring project status.
  • Communicate information to department guides regarding Company initiatives, programs, and promotions.
  • Maintain Company loss prevention standards and controls.
  • Assist with training associates on Company procedures and programs, including new associate training and cross-training.
  • Train and mentor new hires by sharing experience, knowledge, and best practices.
  • Share timely feedback on projects, tasks, and deliverables.
