About The Position

The Hunting Retail Manager supervises the Hunting Departments within the store to include compliance standards with all applicable laws and company policies, merchandise presentation, inventory control, pricing, sales enhancements, Outfitter selection development training and customer service activities. This role leads firearm compliance sales standards in the Hunting/Firearms department to ensure compliance with ATF, state, local laws, company policies and procedures, including 4473, 3310, state and internally required firearm forms. The manager also leads firearm safe handling, safety, operations, and customer experience standards within the firearms department. They support a strong commitment to world-class customer service and ensure a pleasant and productive shopping experience for all customers, meeting or exceeding all financial plans and executing all sales plans as directed by the Company. Responsibilities include opening and closing the store, maintaining planograms, staffing departments with service-oriented associates, interviewing, selection, training, performance appraisals, recommending increases, preparing work schedules, coaching associates, resolving customer and Outfitter issues, and carrying out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with company policies and applicable laws. The manager provides a legendary experience for every customer by assisting them in making buying decisions, identifying and evaluating needs, making product recommendations, and promoting programs like CLUB Membership, VOC, and In-Store Pickup. Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 3-5 years in Retail Management
  • Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, commissions, and percentages
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions
  • Ability to interpret a variety of financial, legal, and technical information
  • Ability to read and analyze certain reports
  • Ability to write reports and business correspondence
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from Managers, associates, customers, and the public
  • Ability to conduct meetings and presentations to groups
  • Proficiency with PC-based word processing, spreadsheets, data-based management and electronic point of sale and inventory management systems
  • Demonstrated strong interpersonal skills
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers, associates, customers and with the Corporate Staff
  • Demonstrated use of Team concept of Management

Responsibilities

  • Leads firearm compliance sales standards, ensuring adherence to ATF, state, and local laws, as well as company policies.
  • Ensures compliance with firearm forms (4473, 3310, etc.).
  • Leads firearm safe handling, safety, operations, and customer experience standards.
  • Supports world-class customer service and ensures a positive shopping experience.
  • Meets or exceeds financial plans and executes sales plans.
  • Performs "Manager on Duty" responsibilities, including opening and closing the store.
  • Maintains planograms as set by the Corporate Office.
  • Staffs departments with service-oriented associates, participates in interviewing and selection, coordinates training, prepares/approves performance appraisals, recommends merit/promotional increases, prepares weekly work schedules, and coaches/motivates associates.
  • Resolves customer and Outfitter issues.
  • Carries out supervisory responsibilities including interviewing, hiring, training, planning, assigning and directing work, measuring and evaluating performance, rewarding and disciplining associates, and addressing complaints.
  • Provides a legendary customer experience by assisting customers with buying decisions, identifying needs, making recommendations, and promoting programs like CLUB Membership, VOC, and In-Store Pickup.
