About The Position

As a “Cog Railway” Retail Clerk, you will provide exceptional hospitality while welcoming guests to our iconic gift shop. You will create a memorable shopping experience that reflects the beauty, excitement, and scenic grandeur of Pikes Peak and the Cog Railway, assisting guests with merchandise while delivering friendly, attentive service. Requirements

  • Minimum of a high school diploma or General Education Degree (GED) equivalent.
  • Previous experience in high-volume retail/cash-handling is highly preferred; however, an equivalent combination of relevant education and professional background will be considered.
  • A valid driver’s license is required, as this role may involve transporting equipment across the Resort. Please note that all employees operating Broadmoor vehicles must be at least 18 years of age.
  • Ability to utilize Microsoft Office tools for documentation and email communication.
  • A highly motivated team player who connects easily with colleagues and drives results through positive energy and seamless collaboration.
  • Strong, friendly, and enthusiastic communication skills with a passion for interacting courteously with diverse groups of travelers.
  • Excellent skills, negotiation, conflict resolution and ability to work in fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to lift, pull, or push up to 100 lbs. with assistance and proper safety practices.
  • Flexible schedule, including weekends and holidays, as required by the calendar of events.

Responsibilities

  • Greet guests warmly on the sales floor, deliver exceptional five-star hospitality, and answer questions regarding merchandise features, pricing, and local Cog Railway and Pikes Peak history.
  • Process cash and credit card transactions accurately, operate the point-of-sale system and cash register, and provide correct change using basic math skills.
  • Maintain clean, organized, fully stocked, and visually appealing merchandise displays that reflect the scenic grandeur and unique character of the destination.
  • Monitor and replenish inventory, requisition merchandise from the stockroom, assist with receiving and organizing deliveries, and follow established safety and operational procedures.
  • Prepare accurate end-of-shift deposits, reconcile payments and transactions as required, and follow established cash-handling procedures.
  • Ensure complete compliance with The Broadmoor guidelines, operational procedures, safety policies, and institutional standards for excellence (Forbes Travel Guide and AAA Five-Diamond).
  • Maintain a willingness to learn about The Broadmoor’s history, estate grounds, wilderness properties, culinary offerings, and retail outlets.
  • Execute additional duties and responsibilities as required.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
