About The Position
This position interprets and accurately enters prescription information into the pharmacy computer system. Prepares medications for dispensing including accurate labeling and documentation under the supervision of a pharmacist to ensure compliance with departmental/state/federal regulations and patient safety. The role requires knowledge of hazardous materials and associated safety practices. Responsibilities include billing third-party insurance plans accurately, investigating coverage, and resolving rejected claims in a timely manner. The technician will have an in-depth knowledge of all technician and pharmacy clerk roles, and perform clerk duties when needed. Excellent customer service is expected, with a desire to provide exceptional patient satisfaction in person and on the telephone. The role involves maintaining and organizing pharmacy inventory, including awareness of inventory control systems, ordering and stocking areas appropriately and cost-effectively, and removing outdated medications. The technician will verify inventory received against the invoice, noting exceptions and communicating them to their supervisor. Stocking shelves with appropriate rotation is also a key function. Accurate maintenance of narcotics control data and processing of packaging patients, including obtaining MARs, are required. Maintaining care home relationships, ensuring a safe and clean pharmacy, and cleaning equipment are also part of the role. The position contributes to policy changes, goal setting, and making recommendations for improvements, and may work on projects for the development and improvement of the Pharmacy. Attendance at department staff meetings and maintaining National Certification are expected.

- Must be able to read, evaluate and interpret Oregon Board of Pharmacy Laws and Rules.
- Work under supervision in filling orders and preparing prescriptions; data entry and navigation of both health-system and pharmacy computer system.
- Knowledge of hazardous materials and associated safety practices.
- Oregon Board of Pharmacy Certified Pharmacy Technician license.

- Work on project(s) that contribute to the development and subsequent improvement of the Pharmacy.
- Attend department staff meetings.
- Maintain National Certification.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
