About The Position

This is a part-time (.5 FTE) position with varying shifts for a Retail Certified Pharmacy Technician at Washburn Retail Pharmacy. The role involves interpreting and entering prescription information, preparing medications for dispensing, billing third-party insurance, managing inventory, and providing excellent customer service. The technician will also be responsible for maintaining pharmacy records, ensuring a safe and clean work environment, and contributing to policy improvements.

  • Medium demands for push/pull/lifting work; able to lift 30 pounds; stand for long periods.
  • Must be able to work independently.
  • Ability to analyze work situations, problem solve, work in a professional manner, prioritize workload and effectively handle stressful situations.
  • Must be able to read, evaluate and interpret Oregon Board of Pharmacy Laws and Rules.
  • Work under supervision in filling orders and preparing prescriptions; data entry and navigation of both health-system and pharmacy computer system.
  • Knowledge of hazardous materials and associated safety practices.

Nice To Haves

  • Five (5) years or more of Retail Pharmacy experience

Responsibilities

  • Interpret and accurately enter prescription information into the pharmacy computer system.
  • Prepare medications for dispensing including accurate labeling and documentation under the supervision of a pharmacist to ensure compliance with departmental/state/federal regulations and patient safety.
  • Bill third party insurance plans accurately, including investigating coverage and resolving rejected claims in a timely manner.
  • Perform clerk duties when needed, demonstrating knowledge of all technician and pharmacy clerk roles.
  • Provide excellent customer service in person and on the telephone, aiming for exceptional patient satisfaction.
  • Maintain and organize pharmacy inventory, including ordering, stocking, removing outdated medications, and verifying received inventory.
  • Accurately maintain narcotics control data.
  • Process packaging patients, including obtaining MARs.
  • Maintain care home relationships.
  • Maintain a safe and clean pharmacy, cleaning equipment and reporting any failures or need for repair.
  • Contribute to policy changes, goal setting, and making recommendations for improvements within the Pharmacy.
  • Attend department staff meetings.
  • Maintain National Certification.
