About The Position

The Retail & Banquet Manager is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the Gift Shop retail outlet, while concurrently managing banquet event execution and porter services. This role ensures exceptional guest service, operational efficiency, inventory control, and seamless event coordination within a fast-paced environment.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or its equivalent required.
  • Minimum 2-4 years of experience in retail, hospitality, or banquet management.
  • Must be 21 years of age or older.
  • Must pass all required pre-screening and background checks.
  • Internal candidates must meet the requirements as outlined in the Transfer and Promotion Policy.
  • Ability to work a variety of shifts, this includes day, swing, late-night, weekend, and holiday shifts as scheduled.
  • Must have current S.T.A.R. certification or successfully obtain certification upon hire in accordance with regulatory requirements.
  • Must be able to obtain required work cards, gaming/racing licenses, as required by state and local jurisdiction.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for supporting the Director of Food and Beverage and VP of Food & Beverage in all aspects of quality, cost control, and completing inventories.
  • Coordinate and oversee banquet events from setup through execution and breakdown.
  • Manage banquet porters and event staff to ensure timely and accurate room setups.
  • Partner with Convention Sales Management to ensure event specifications are executed to standard.
  • Reviews and execute all internal and external Banquet Event Orders (BEOs) in accordance with established company procedures and standards.
  • Oversee day-to-day operations of the Gift Shop and all retail outlets.
  • Ensure merchandising standards, product presentation, and visual displays drive guest engagement.
  • Maintain product knowledge across all merchandise categories.
  • Provide direct supervision, coaching, and development to gift shop attendants and banquet porters.
  • Assist with recruiting, hiring, onboarding, training, and performance management.
  • Conduct ongoing performance evaluations and administer progressive discipline as needed.
  • Foster a positive, team-oriented culture focused on service excellence and accountability.
  • Ensure proper staffing levels based on business demands.
  • Inspects outlets to ensure observance of safe and sanitary handling practices.
  • Maintains a solid knowledge of all products.
  • During non-peak periods, this role may be required to support and work in other F&B outlets, including beverage operations, based on business needs.
  • To provide BIG Service to internal guests and ensure their complete satisfaction, inclusive of greeting and interacting with guests in a friendly and enthusiastic manner, anticipating and meeting guest needs and preferences, remaining calm and professional when dealing with guests that are difficult or upset.
  • The ability to develop and maintain professional, trusting, and positive working relationships with managers, supervisors, staff, coworkers, guests, and vendors.
  • The ability and willingness to ensure that work activities are completed accurately, efficiently, and in a timely manner.
  • The ability to work safely. This includes clearly understanding and following company safety policies and procedures, completing work in a safe manner, caring about safety of self and others, responding appropriately in an emergency, and reporting unsafe conditions.
  • Maintain regular attendance at scheduled shift and staff meetings.
