About The Position

The Retail Backroom Supervisor is responsible for executing receiving and merchandising standards and ensuring Associates process merchandise efficiently and effectively as a team. The role supports an excellent customer experience by engaging with customers, maintaining a clean and organized store, and modeling exceptional customer service. The Supervisor orchestrates truck deliveries and merchandise processing, trains and mentors Associates, monitors team productivity, organizes back stock, and communicates priorities and progress to management and Associates. The position also supports store safety, shrink reduction, credit and loyalty programs, and compliance with labor laws, company policies, and applicable recycling and hazardous waste programs. Other duties may be assigned.

Requirements

One year of retail experience.
Six months of leadership experience.
Able to work a flexible schedule, including nights and weekends.
Superior communication and organizational skills, with attention to detail.
Capable of multitasking.
Able to respond appropriately to changes in direction or unexpected situations.
Team player who works effectively with peers and supervisors.
Capable of lifting heavy objects, with or without reasonable accommodation.
Able to train others.

Responsibilities

Create a positive internal and external customer experience and model exceptional customer service.
Promote honesty and integrity and maintain confidentiality.
Orchestrate truck delivery and prioritize processing merchandise onto the sales floor.
Train and mentor Associates on merchandising and processing principles.
Ensure merchandise is properly tagged, hung, secured, and coded.
Communicate with the Coordinator on Duty to support efficient flow of goods to the sales floor.
Ensure Associates complete tasks and activities according to the store plan, prioritizing as needed.
Monitor team productivity and coach Associates as necessary.
Organize and rotate back stock for easy replenishment.
Uphold merchandising philosophy and signage standards.
Maintain organizational, cleanliness, and recovery standards in the backroom.
Ensure compliance with recycling and, where applicable, hazardous waste programs.
Communicate priorities accurately and effectively with management and Associates, and provide progress updates.
Give and receive recognition and constructive feedback.
Partner with Management on Associate training needs to increase effectiveness.
Ensure adherence to labor laws, policies, and procedures.
Promote credit and loyalty programs.
Support and participate in store shrink-reduction goals and programs.
Promote safety awareness and maintain a safe environment.
Perform other duties as assigned.
