About The Position

As a Retail Associate at Columbia Sportswear Company, you serve as a brand ambassador and help create exceptional in-store experiences through positive customer interactions. Associates support the company’s mission of connecting active people with their passions by keeping products available, creating visual displays, answering customer questions, and operating checkout efficiently. You use problem-solving and sales skills to recommend products while supporting customer service and teamwork.

The role includes helping customers understand product features, benefits, and availability; maintaining merchandising, cleanliness, and safety standards; completing register transactions; and accurately handling incoming and outgoing merchandise. The position is seasonal and requires flexible retail scheduling that may change based on seasonal or location-specific business needs.

The posting lists pay of $14.00 per hour and notes that applicants must be at least 16 years old. Temporary employees may be eligible for a 401(k) plan with company match subject to age and hours-worked requirements, employee discounts, and Wellness Time Off subject to applicable laws.

Requirements

• Be at least 16 years of age.
• Have two or fewer years of experience in a position or specialization.
• Have skill operating inventory and point-of-sale systems and other retail software tools.
• Communicate clearly with others.
• Be available to work a flexible retail schedule that may change seasonally and in response to location-specific business trends or forecasts.
• Be able to move about frequently in an active environment and frequently adjust or move items weighing up to 40 pounds.

Responsibilities

• Provide exceptional customer service by responding to questions and issues about product features, benefits, and availability.
• Understand customers’ needs and preferences, demonstrate and explain merchandise, and suggest suitable options.
• Maintain store standards for visual merchandising, cleanliness, and safety.
• Retrieve merchandise from the sales floor, stock room, or other inventory locations.
• Complete cash register transactions, including sales, returns, exchanges, and loyalty-program connections, efficiently and accurately.
• Receive, handle, replenish, and process incoming and outgoing products accurately and efficiently.
