About The Position

Spanish Peaks Mountain Club is seeking a Retail Associate to deliver an exceptional shopping experience to its members and guests. This role is crucial for the daily operation of the retail shop, involving personalized service, product knowledge, point-of-sale transactions, merchandising, inventory management, and maintaining the retail environment. The ideal candidate is friendly, organized, detail-oriented, and comfortable working independently in a luxury private-club setting, capable of anticipating member needs and maintaining a professional atmosphere.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Strong member-service and interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with fluency in English.
  • Professional appearance and polished communication style.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Basic math skills and the ability to process transactions accurately.
  • Ability to learn product information, pricing, Club procedures, and retail systems.
  • Ability to manage multiple responsibilities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Self-starter who can remain productive during slower periods.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule, including weekends, holidays, and special events.
  • Must be able to pass a criminal background check and drug screening.
  • A valid driver’s license and clean driving record may be required.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous experience in retail, hospitality, luxury service, recreation, or private-club operations is preferred.
  • Experience with point-of-sale and inventory-management systems is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Welcome members and guests in a friendly, professional, and approachable manner.
  • Provide personalized assistance and product recommendations based on member needs and preferences.
  • Develop a strong understanding of available apparel, accessories, outdoor equipment, gifts, and Spanish Peaks-branded merchandise.
  • Accurately process purchases, returns, exchanges, special orders, and member-account charges through the point-of-sale system.
  • Follow all payment-processing and transaction-recording procedures.
  • Maintain an organized, clean, attractive, and fully stocked retail environment.
  • Assist with merchandising displays, product placement, signage, pricing, and seasonal shop transitions.
  • Receive merchandise deliveries and verify shipments against purchase orders and packing lists.
  • Unpack, tag, price, fold, hang, steam, and display new merchandise.
  • Monitor inventory levels and communicate restocking or purchasing needs to management.
  • Assist with regular inventory counts and investigate discrepancies when identified.
  • Maintain accurate product, pricing, and inventory information within the point-of-sale system.
  • Help members locate merchandise, determine appropriate sizing, and arrange special orders when available.
  • Promote current merchandise, seasonal products, retail events, and special offers.
  • Package purchases neatly and appropriately for members.
  • Answer phone calls and respond to retail-related questions in a timely and professional manner.
  • Maintain fitting rooms, storage areas, counters, displays, and back-stock areas.
  • Follow opening and closing procedures, including register preparation, transaction reconciliation, cleaning, restocking, and securing merchandise.
  • Protect Club merchandise and immediately report damaged, missing, or improperly priced items.
  • Maintain member privacy and confidentiality in accordance with private-club standards.
  • Communicate effectively and coordinate with Outdoor Pursuits, Membership, Food and Beverage, and other Club departments.
  • Represent Spanish Peaks Mountain Club with a polished appearance and positive attitude.
  • Follow all Club policies, safety standards, and loss-prevention procedures.
  • Carry out assigned responsibilities independently and with minimal supervision.
  • Assist with retail events, trunk shows, member promotions, and seasonal sales.
  • Support Outdoor Pursuits and recreation operations during periods of high activity.
  • Assist members with general information about Aspire amenities, activities, and services.
  • Help prepare retail merchandise or welcome items for Club events and member experiences.
  • Support other departments during special events as needed.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Outdoor Pursuits Manager or Director of Outdoor Pursuits.
