About The Position

Full-time Retail Associate & Lesson Studio Coordinator position at Menchey Music Service, a family-owned and operated music company serving Pennsylvania and Maryland since 1936. This role involves direct customer interaction via in-person, phone, and email to meet musical needs, including selling instruments, accessories, and print music, renting instruments, and enrolling new students for lessons. The Lesson Studio Coordinator aspect involves cultivating a community of musicians through in-store activities, organizing performance opportunities, developing relationships with teachers, parents, and students, and managing student/teacher accounts. Other duties include troubleshooting customer issues, maintaining the store, opening/closing procedures, cash handling, and training on products and sales techniques. This is not a seasonal position.

Requirements

  • HS Diploma or GED
  • General knowledge of musical instruments and written music
  • Ability to play at least one musical instrument
  • 6+ months retail, customer service or sales experience
  • Proficient Computer Skill (MS Office especially Excel)

Responsibilities

  • Selling instruments, accessories, print music, etc.
  • Renting band, orchestra & other instruments
  • Enrolling new students for lessons at the Menchey School of Music
  • Cultivating a community of musicians through in-store activities
  • Organizing performance opportunities for students
  • Developing positive relationships with teachers, parents, and students
  • Communicating with staff, teachers, and management regarding promotions and events
  • Assigning billing plans, ensuring payments, assisting with scheduling and maintaining student/teacher accounts
  • Troubleshooting customer issues and finding solutions
  • Maintaining a clean and organized store
  • Opening and closing the store according to policies
  • Cash handling - daily balancing of cash drawer
  • Training on instruments, new products, and sales techniques
