About The Position

The Retail Assistant Store Manager supports the Store Manager in achieving sales goals and meeting store operational objectives. The role helps hire, train, and develop staff while fostering a culture rooted in New Balance’s values of integrity, teamwork, and total customer satisfaction. When the Store Manager is unavailable, the Assistant Store Manager leads and runs the store.

Requirements

• Must be at least 18 years old.
• At least 2 years of retail experience; some stores in higher-volume areas may require more.
• Proficiency with POS systems and Microsoft Office.
• Knowledge of retail operations, including sales, customer service, merchandising, inventory control, store budget preparation, and loss prevention.
• Demonstrated ability to lead and work as part of a team.
• Willingness to work a flexible schedule to meet the needs of the retail business, potentially including weekends and holidays.
• Ability to lift 4 lbs. constantly and a maximum of 8 lbs. occasionally; kneel or squat frequently; move product boxes weighing up to 50 lbs. with assistance if necessary; stand for extended periods; climb ladders occasionally; and frequently climb and descend stairs, depending on location.

Responsibilities

• Create and maintain a culture of total customer satisfaction.
• Help the Store Manager achieve financial targets and operational objectives.
• Collaborate with the Store Manager and District Manager to execute strategic sales plans.
• Coach and develop store staff and lead by example.
• Help coordinate volunteer opportunities that build the New Balance brand in the communities served.
• Assist with processing payroll and preparing schedules for store associates.
• Lead the team and run the store when the Store Manager is unavailable.
