About The Position

The Retail Assistant Manager manages a specific area of retail operations and employees at Jackson Hole Sports, working to achieve excellent guest service, branding, training, and budgetary goals. The role supports daily retail operations, staff development, inventory and merchandise management, store presentation, and seasonal preparation. The position is winter seasonal and full-time, based in Teton Village, Wyoming, and reports to the Assistant General Manager.

Requirements

Extensive knowledge of ski retail operations.
Basic knowledge of point-of-sale systems.
Basic knowledge of the ski/snowboard industry and Jackson Hole Mountain Resort.
Strong organizational skills.
Strong people management skills.
Basic Excel skills.
Ability to lift a minimum of 75 lbs.
Minimum three years of experience in ski/snowboard operations.
Minimum two-year college degree or equivalent job-specific training.

Nice To Haves

Two years of previous management experience preferred.

Responsibilities

Train, manage, conduct performance management for, hire, fire, and motivate staff to drive retail sales and service.
Train retail staff on Snowcloud usage and procedures.
Assist the Assistant General Manager in developing and implementing training programs that help store staff meet guest service, operational, and safety expectations.
Manage schedules and timecards for staff within the assigned area.
Manage and purchase unique hardgoods parts and inventory to support store service and reputation.
Open and close Jackson Hole Sports and train leads in those procedures.
Work with the Information Systems team to ensure technology needs are met before each season.
Facilitate morning meetings and coach staff on sales goals and upselling techniques.
Maintain efficient daily retail operations and promote excellent customer service.
Promote retail operations with assistance from the Assistant General Manager.
Control retail merchandise inventory and oversee bi-annual physical inventory counts.
Assist with receiving products and transferring them between stores.
Coordinate cross-selling and training.
Maintain store presentation in accordance with retail visual standards.
Assist with beginning-of-season setup and end-of-season breakdown.
Work with the buying team and merchandiser to ensure appropriate merchandise placement.
Assist with promotional events.
