About The Position

The Retail Account Manager will be responsible for building relationships with key retail pharmacy field leaders to implement chain HQ direction and pharmacy-based programs. This role leverages Pfizer’s value proposition to create mutually beneficial business opportunities, identifies opportunities for synergy through transparent customer planning, and tailors account management strategies to customer needs and market changes. The position requires prioritizing customer opportunities, training and compliantly sharing externally-facing performance data, and using customer-facing tools to identify and address immunization opportunities. The role involves expert account planning, effective project management, and implementing and measuring the impact of customer-aligned projects and educations. The Retail Account Manager will also collaborate with internal teams, including Sales ABMs and Retail Trade Account Directors, to navigate internal matrices, drive customer-centric focus, and contribute to internal customer plans. This position requires extensive travel, up to 50% of the time, and the candidate must live within or near the assigned geography.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree.
  • 5+ years pharmaceutical or retail-related experience – combination of sales and marketing in pharmaceuticals or related industries.
  • Valid US driver’s license and a driving record in compliance with company standards.
  • Demonstrated ability to meet or exceed product performance objectives.
  • Demonstrated success working in matrix environment, leading through influence and orchestrated customer interactions across multiple teams in different organizational structures.
  • Demonstrated ability to successfully engage and deliver impact among key decision makers with large accounts.
  • Demonstrated ability to think strategically and to formulate, develop, write, communicate and monitor the execution of stakeholder business plans.
  • Demonstrated experience in executing and in overseeing highly complex programs and projects (i.e., strong project management skills).
  • Demonstrated success in collaborating effectively and gaining alignment with colleagues across different parts of the organization (including field and HQ).
  • Demonstrated track record of assessing customer needs and bringing relevant cross-functional appropriate tools and resources.
  • Demonstrated track record of strong leadership, cross functional leadership, collaboration and effective utilization of available resources to drive performance.
  • Demonstrated experience leveraging data and all available information to prioritize business opportunities.
  • Demonstrated success in problem solving and entering new markets in a structured organization.
  • Strong understanding of evolving healthcare landscape in US, including US Healthcare Reform, and impact on Retail Pharmacy customers.
  • Demonstrated track record of strong business acumen, problem solving, strategic thinking, and project management skills, as well as excellent planning and prioritization skills.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in executive level customer engagement presentations. Engagement presentations will often be directed at high levels of organized customers and will require excellent executive presence.
  • Excellent communication skills to impactfully explain public health argument and clinical value proposition of Pfizer Retail Pharmacy products to target customers, and to influence the products’ acceptance within the customer organization.
  • This position is an individual contributor with accountability for collaborative matrix leadership with other customer-facing colleagues with respect to local geography and must always adhere to and model all Pfizer Values and compliance principles.
  • Extensive travel is required based on geography. Ability to travel up to 50% of the time based on business requirements, to include customer meetings and internal Pfizer meetings.
  • Ability to travel domestically and stay overnight as necessary. Frequent overnight travel may be necessary in some geographic locations.
  • Candidate must live in the geography (or within a commutable distance to majority of geography) as approved by the National Pharmacy Business Director (NPBD) and National Retail Pharmacy Team Lead.
  • Candidate demonstrates a breadth of diverse leadership experiences and capabilities including: the ability to influence and collaborate with peers, develop and coach others, oversee and guide the work of other colleagues to achieve meaningful outcomes and create business impact.
  • Candidates must be authorized to be employed in the U.S. by any employer.
  • U.S. work visa sponsorship (such as TN, O-1, H-1B, etc.) is not available for this role now or in the future.
  • This position requires permanent work authorization in the United States.

Nice To Haves

  • Advanced degree in a related field preferred.
  • Prior account management experience in retail pharmacy or large organized customers.
  • Prior team management and/or account management preferred or an IDP-aligned development role for account management with demonstrated leadership across peer and manager groups.

Responsibilities

  • Build relationships with key retail pharmacy field leaders who implement chain HQ direction and pharmacy-based programs.

  • Conduct expert account planning and practice effective project management using Pfizer Account Management resources (i.e. Valkre, etc.).
  • Implement and measure impact of customer-aligned Projects and Educations.
  • Prioritize retail areas and track operationalization progress across communication, education, patient identification, execution, and stocking.
  • Use strong planning, focused questions, and solution-oriented project plans.
  • Align RC-approved Pfizer resources to customer immunization programs to sustain initiatives.
  • Use latest RC-approved educational content and resources to address needs of customers.
  • Drive pull-through through project management, field leader education, and workflow engagement tools.
  • Facilitate internal sharing of chain best practices in patient identification, workflow, and counseling.
  • Analyze market trends, competition, and customer history to improve account interactions.
  • Complete Full Account Management Curriculum Training, as well as Retail Pharmacy specific training.
  • Execute marketing programs, present RC-approved materials, and lead strategic projects with near-, mid-, and long-term impact.
  • Operate in a team environment that encourages innovative ideas and a culture of collaboration and teamwork.
  • Be adept at creating a vision for the future and be able to create a pathway to help optimize the customer’s vaccination opportunities in a compliant and engaging way.
  • Align with Retail Trade Account Director (TAD) to ensure appropriate understanding of, and support for Retail Pharmacy goals (i.e., brand and customer).
  • Collaborate with local Sales ABMs to navigate a complicated internal matrix that aligns their HSS teams to drive pull through.
  • Drive customer centric focus overarching account value versus product specific, understand and address what influences prescribing and purchasing (or stocking) decisions.
  • Contribute to internal customer plans in collaboration with TAD.
  • Impact and influence development of RAM strategies by partnering with needed cross functional teams to compliantly shape efforts and deliver results.
  • Work with TAD to understand the strategic plan for each of the target customer, and the implications for how to prioritize and implement the plan in each geography.
  • Utilize organizational awareness skills and alignment of Pfizer's priorities to include appropriate Pfizer colleagues with a Retail Pharmacy to optimize value provided to the Customer and to Pfizer.
  • Provide the marketing and strategy teams with key geographic and customer specific insights that they can utilize in crafting new market-specific materials.
  • Appropriately and compliantly communicate and collaborate with cross-functional field-based colleagues (Sales, Medical, PCA, Government Relations, etc.) to ensure appropriate engagement with geographic Retail Pharmacies.
  • Partner with Pfizer stakeholders to facilitate colleague understanding of local market/customer drivers.
  • Responsible for pull through at the highest customer geography level working across One Pfizer to pull through tactics and drive appropriate utilization.
  • Share and help scale proven practices across the region and nation.
  • Meet with customers both live and virtually as needed.
  • Customer interactions may also include promotional exhibit opportunities.
