About The Position

Dallas Area Habitat for Humanity is seeking a hands-on Team Lead for its ReStore team. Our ReStores sell donated furniture, appliances, building materials and home-improvement products. Revenue generated through our stores helps Dallas Area Habitat for Humanity expand access to affordable homeownership and build stronger Dallas communities. The ReStore Team Lead works alongside the team while helping coordinate daily sales-floor, warehouse and donation-processing activities. This is an active working-lead position for someone who can provide direction, solve problems and step into any area of the store when needed. The ReStore Team Lead supports the Store Manager and Assistant Store Manager in coordinating daily store operations and providing direction to employees and volunteers. The Team Lead helps ensure excellent customer service, accurate transactions, proper donation processing, safe merchandise handling and an organized store environment. This position serves as a resource for employees during assigned shifts but does not replace the authority of store management.

Requirements

  • Available to work weekdays and weekends as needed is required
  • High school diploma or GED.
  • At least one year of retail, warehouse, customer-service or related experience preferred.
  • Previous lead, supervisory or team-coordination experience strongly preferred.
  • Experience with cash handling and point-of-sale systems preferred.
  • Ability to provide clear direction and respectfully hold others accountable.
  • Strong customer-service and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to remain calm and professional when handling customer or operational concerns.
  • Ability to organize work, prioritize tasks and respond to changing business needs.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with employees, customers, donors and volunteers.
  • Basic computer and administrative skills.
  • Knowledge of building materials, furniture, appliances or home-improvement products is helpful.

  • Ability to work a flexible retail schedule, including weekends and assigned opening or closing shifts.
  • Willingness and ability to work in sales-floor, warehouse and donation-processing areas.
  • Ability to frequently stand, walk, bend, reach, push and pull throughout the shift.
  • Ability to lift and carry items weighing up to 50 pounds independently and assist with heavier items using team-lifting techniques or appropriate equipment, with or without reasonable accommodation.

Responsibilities

  • Lead by example and provide professional, courteous service to customers and donors.
  • Help coordinate daily assignments for sales-floor, warehouse and donation-processing employees.
  • Provide employees and volunteers with task direction and operational support.
  • Monitor store coverage and communicate staffing or operational concerns to management.
  • Assist with opening and closing responsibilities when assigned.
  • Support cash-register operations, transaction accuracy and daily cash-handling procedures.
  • Respond to routine customer questions and help resolve customer concerns.
  • Escalate significant customer, employee, safety or operational concerns to management.
  • Help receive, inspect, organize, price and display donated merchandise.
  • Support the safe loading, unloading and movement of merchandise.
  • Ensure employees and volunteers follow safety, loss-prevention and operational procedures.
  • Help maintain clean, organized and safe sales-floor, warehouse and receiving areas.
  • Assist with training and onboarding new employees and volunteers.
  • Provide constructive, work-related direction and feedback.
  • Communicate daily priorities and store information clearly.
  • Document and report incidents, injuries, policy concerns or operational problems promptly.
  • Support inventory, pricing and merchandising activities.
  • Perform Sales Associate and Warehouse Associate responsibilities when needed.
  • Represent Dallas Area Habitat for Humanity positively and professionally.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
